Muffin & Enrico

Muffin & Enrico

I've known Enrico for a few years now, and he has always been a delightful person — playful, full of energy, a real joy to be around. Keeping up with him isn't easy; you can find him anywhere with his dog, Muffin, and then watch him vanish as if he were made of air. He asked me to take some photos with Muffin, so he'd have a lasting memory of his dog, as clumsy as he is affectionate and adorable.

With summer ending and the weather perfect for anything, we decided to take advantage of the sunset colours in Tirrenia and its wide beaches, empty at the end of the season. Muffin ventured out cautiously at first, but was quickly swept up, poor thing, by our enthusiasm for some action shots. We came up with every excuse to make him run back and forth, and the shoot got off to a great start.

Enrico, who never backs down from a challenge, warmed up with a few running shots that would have impressed even Bolt. Then he decided to dive into the water with his trusty steed — er, dog. Not wanting to be outdone (and still behind on my yearly swim count), I dived in too to capture their emotions up close.

We let ourselves be carried by the waves, the gentle currents and the unhurried flow of time, while I shot away at my subjects. When we finally declared ourselves satisfied with the result, covered in sand and water, we dried off on the shore and ran to the nearest fast food joint. Here is a selection of shots from that day.
